Course Title: Basic First Aid

Course Description and Purpose

This course is for any learner required to assess the emergency situation and provide Basic First Aid in order to stabilise patients prior to transfer to the emergency services. The key attribute for First Aid training is saving lives. To do this the following skill set should be developed during the course:

• Recognize emergency situations
• Respond immediately and appropriately to emergencies

Course Objectives

• Demonstrate an understanding of first aid protocols and common tools
• Demonstrate an understanding of elementary anatomy and physiology
• Assess an emergency situation
• Apply First Aid procedures as per the situation

Entry Requirements

This qualification is for learners:

• With/without formal or recognized qualifications in any area
• Who desire to develop knowledge on First Aid
• Ready to render basic First Aid to the community

Award of Certification

Certificate of Participation valid for 02 years, will be awarded to learners for successfully completing the course.
